Enhancing the local flavor is original artwork from Santa Fe’s Turner Carroll Gallery, which adorns the walls. Upon entering the spa lounge, guests are welcomed by the serene sounds of a water sculpture of stone and copper, as well as relaxing lounge chairs and love seats in a calming sage hue. All eight treatment rooms including massage, facial and spa wet rooms have been updated with re-allocated space to add a brand new couples treatment area and a private Eucalyptus Steam Room. A new reception and retail section, locker areas and bathrooms with elegantly modern copper vessel bowl sinks atop stone countertops complete the spa’s public areas. Fitness enthusiasts can take advantage of the redesigned fitness center, featuring new equipment and Cardio Theatre with LCD screens and wireless headphones. “With the spa refurbishment, we have responded to our guests’ desire for a luxury experience that matches the rest of the services and amenities at our historic resort,” said Ulli Peck, Spa Director at the Avanyu Spa. In addition to the new surroundings, guests will be able to experience a fresh selection of treatments including the signature Avanyu Legend. This revitalizing body treatment allows spa goers to choose from a selection of scrubs (consisting of fragrance-infused sugars, salts, bamboo and crushed flowers), followed by a choice of masks, from moor muds to seaweeds to oils. The treatment is completed with a moisturizer of the guest’s choice, either a body butter, blended essential oil or fine hydrating lotion. This ever-changing personalized treatment is designed to awaken the spirit and soothe the soul. Indigenous treatments offered include the Adobe Mud Wrap to exfoliate and re-mineralize dull, tired-looking skin, the Chocolate Chili Wrap and the Spirit of Santa Fe. The Avanyu Spa is also introducing the world class Phytomer skincare line, which will be incorporated into facial treatments. Phytomer’s hydrating products are made of highly effective natural ingredients from the sea. Overseeing the Avanyu Spa is newly appointed Spa Director Ulli Peck, who brings with her a wealth of international luxury spa and hospitality knowledge. Ulli joins the spa team from her most recent position as spa manager at Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa in Sausalito, CA. A native of Austria, Ulli has over 10 years of international project management experience specializing in health, training and environmental issues. She has served in a variety of different capacities in Switzerland, Austria, Geneva, Amsterdam and Washington, D.C. In her current position, Ulli will handle daily spa operations, as well as training of therapists and implementation of new treatments and services.
